Police commissioner confirms rampant killings in Yambio

The Acting Police Commissioner of Gbudue State confirms rampant
killings by unknown gunmen over the weekend in Yambio County.

Brigadier General Hussein Girish Yambio says two people including a
policeman were killed in separate incidences, Radio Anisa reports.

He confirms that on Monday around 3:00 AM suspected criminals shot
another man in his home at Hai Masiya in Yambio.

The victim who is in critical situation at Yambio State Hospital,
Brigadier General adds.

The officer describes the killing in Yambio as a targeted kind of
greed and robbery.

He says security personnel are doing all they can do bring the
perpetrators to face justice.

The Acting Police Commissioner reveals soon they will form community
police to enable the police force to respond quickly to emergencies.

Brigadier General Girish says the community police will work together
with the police force to control night robberies which are very common
in Yambio.

Gibson Bullen Wande, Information Minister of Gbudue State, urges the
general public to remain calm and support the government in tracing
the perpetrators.

He says it looks like there are wrong elements bribed to kill innocent
people who are trying to penetrate into the state.

The minister says the government will investigate the incidences and
ensure that those identified to be behind the act will face the law.

He calls on citizens to cooperate with the police personnel in order
to reduce the rate of crimes in the state.

Citizens in the past days complained of rampant killings in Yambio by
unknown criminals at night and no arrest has been made.
