Government Directs Institutions, NGOs To Use Its State Owned Radio For Announcements The Government of Imatong State through the Information Ministry has ordered all Non-governmental Organizations, operating in the State including its Institutions to advertise any public announcement , in its owned radio Voice of Eastern Equatoria State 97.5 FM. 02 August 2017
By Peter Lokale TORIT, 01 August 2017 [Gurtong] –The Information Ministry’s 1st Director General, Mr. Agapito Lolikae issued the order last week with standing directives on the targets to observe the implementation with effect from August1, 2017. Mr. Agapito revealed that he has seen all the NGOs fixing their adverts on public notice boards across the towns in the State. He has warned them to respect the order to avoid any future inconvenience. The Director General notes that the targets as mentioned above have shown reluctance to make use of the state owned radio which according to him should have been done to ensure effective transparency and credibility by the institutions and NGOs. The latest government move seeks to mobilize and increase its revenues since the radio usage through adverts and announcements, serves as one way of generating income. Meanwhile, many among the citizens who welcomed the initiative demand that the government not interfere with fixing of the notices on the public board by the NGOs because the displayed adverts provide adequate details to audience unlike radio whose information is hurriedly read and quickly closed after the announcement.
