Sudan’s constitutional court recognizes children born of Sudanese and
S Sudanese parents

The highest judicial body in Sudan has accepted to grant citizenship
to children born of a Sudanese mother and South Sudanese father and
vice versa, a Sudanese lawyer said.

Refaat Mekkawi, Director of Al-Nas Center for Legal Aid in Khartoum,
told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the constitutional court has upheld
a complaint presented by the centre regarding the case of Adil Burrei
and others who have dual citizenship.

Mekkawi said there are several similar cases that will be looked into
by the constitutional court.
