Jubek governor orders release of inmates charged with minor crimes The governor of Jubek state has ordered the release of inmates charged with minor crimes from all state police prisons in a bid to avoid overcrowding, a state official said.
Jubek’s Minister of Information Salah Bandouqi said after the cabinet meeting on Thursday that Governor Augustino Jadallah had ordered the release of all prisoners charged with minor cases during his inspection visit to state prisons on Wednesday. He pointed out that the state prisons are facing logistical challenges. He commended the role played by the joint police unite for providing security in Juba.The minister also said the cabinet gave its approval for upgrading of some residential areas in Juba from fourth class to third class. Those areas include Hai Thoura, Mayo, Atlabara and Kator.
