A foreign journalist working for Liberty FM-90.0 in the town of Yei in South Sudan has been under detention since the last six months. A Ugandan national King Martin Omalla, who worked as a radio presenter and gospel musician in Yei, was detained by police authorities after misunderstandings with one his colleagues who is a native of Yei. Reportedly, Omalla’s health condition is deteriorating in jail due to lack of nutrient food and good medical care. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the head of South Sudan journalists’ union in Yei, Agele Benson Amos said they are working hard with the relevant authorities to release the detained Ugandan journalist. Amos further said he is currently coordinating the issue with the chairperson of the Ugandan community in Yei to make sure that King Martin is released. “I don’t feel happy to see this journalist staying in prison for a long period of time because he is young and hardworking radio presenter,” he said. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
