Minister vows to improve justice across South Sudan CRNSaturday, August 26, 2017 - 10:19
The Minister of Justice says his ministry is working to improve justice system in the country. Paulino Wanawila Unango spoke to reporters in Juba on Friday after returning from Kigali, Rwanda after attending a conference on justice institutions. He says the purpose of the conference was to explore the collaboration between the judiciary and other justice institutions, especially community institution. Minister Wanawila says formal justice does not reach the majority of citizens in rural areas. He says there is exploration of how the traditional courts can be empowered by law and the kind of cases they will handle. Justice Wanawila says many people do not have the ability to hire lawyers to represent them before the court.
