5 opposition soldiers killed, 15 injured in Kaya fighting: SPLA-IO At least five opposition fighters were killed and 15 others wounded on Saturday during fighting with government troops in Yei River state, the rebels said.
SPLA-IO deputy spokesman Lam Paul Gabriel told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that at least five people were killed and 15 others sustained injuries from their side during fighting in Kaya, Kimba, Bazi and Bindu areas in Yei River State. Lam claimed that their forces are controlling Kaya town partially, adding that they are also in control of Kimba, Bazi and Bindu. The opposition spokesman accused the government of targeting Christopher Allen, a US citizen who was working as a freelance journalist during the fighting in Kaya. SPLA spokesperson Lul Ruai Koang said two soldiers were killed and four others wounded from their side during the fighting in Kaya town. Lul also claimed that their forces are in control of Kaya town.
