Cargo plane crash-lands in Maban, crew members survive An Antonov 26B cargo plane was damaged in a runway excursion and post impact fire after landing at Maban airstrip in Northern Upper Nile on Monday, a senior aviation official said.
The General Manager of Juba International Airport, Kur Kuol told Radio Tamazuj today that the aircraft was carrying supplies on behalf of UNHCR to Maban. He further said the plane failed to stop on runway was a result of bad weather condition, and overran. He further said investigations are underway. “No casualties were reported because it was a cargo plane. We are still waiting for the pilot to come to give us more details about the incident,” he said. Last week, a 5-year-old girl was killed and four people injured in Juba when a WFP-contracted aircraft struck a house while attempting to land during a thunderstorm. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
