Broken bridge cuts off Yei residents from Juba

Residents of Yei River State are cut off from Juba following a broken
bridge at Mafi River last week, a local official said.

The dilapidated bridge situated along the main road that connects Yei
River State to Juba has been washed away by heavy rains.

Lainya County Commissioner Eresto Taban called on the national
government and development partners to intervene and rescue the
situation.

“The road is completely cut off and if it is not fixed, there is no
transport between Yei and Juba. I am calling for support from the
national government and partners. This bridge is very important
because it connects Yei River and Jubek states,” he said.

Yei is witnessing rampant insecurity, forcing people to resort to
travel by air, the main mode of transport.
