Problem is that PIL is very complicated internally. Yes, it has MPEG support, but still. Also, they don't make the most recent version available. No CVS/SVN access, nothing of the sort. I don't even know if they accept patches. If image support is going to remain external to Soya, I'd prefer to see a new module written.
