She smiled, a faint, half-hearted thing and then squared her shoulders.
Perhaps it was time to leave the safety of the shallows.  If she was going
to plunge into the depths, she would do so boldly.  She met Lasiter's eyes
steadily, tapping into a level of confidence she had not been sure was
still there.  "Of course," she replied.  "I thank you for the advanced
warning."
