When the reports are received they notice a few things. 1) Most of the
intell reports come from a deep cover agent code named Hunter. 2) All of
the technical reports come from USS Stargazer crew. 3) We do not know
nearly enough.
Report 1.

To: task force command
have infultrated pirate organization. very organized. Not like most
crime organizations. Looks as if there is cartel is organized around a
highly secretive group. will try to gain access to that group. raids
appear to be focused around gathering high tech components- replicators,
medical equipment, warp propulsion, etc. Pattern of attack does not appear
to be random.
Report 2. issued 3 months later.

have risen in ranks of cartel, and gotten limited access to top levels.
still not able to get access to highly secretive lead group. will keep
trying. raids are organized, highly organized. tactics appear to be a
hunting pattern, similar to a pack of wolves or a lion pride. something is
unusual about this particular tactic, but can not specify. will investigate
further. gained access to "shopping list". most items on list are of
trade value, others are not. items not traded include high energy
producing/conducting parts- i.e. matter/anit-matter reactors, power
conduits, power transfer nodes, and deflector components.
Report 3. Issued 5 days later.

top levels of the cartel referred to as "the cats". have not seen
anything to suggest what this means exactly.
will be part of raid on convoy within next few days. expected on to
engage border patrol escorts.
Report 4. issues one week later

To: task force command
raid on convoy successful. obtained more components and high energy
output items. destroyed or disabled border patrol escorts and raided
remains of ships. all crews of convoys ships killed. sending in images of
members of organization for identification.
New ships took part in raid. appear to be alien. leader of my
group indicated that the ship was a "cat" ship.

took part in raid with hunter. did not plan contact with other
agent. "cat" ship not identified as a being from a known race. highly
advanced weapons systems. this ship took out the escorts. used some form
of arch phaser like weapon. similar size to Starfleet light cruiser, with
power output of heavy cruiser. details scans not available.
Report 5. one month later.

met leadership of cartel. the top levels are not of known origin,
but cat like. approx. 2 - 2.15 meters tall. possess cat like hands
including non-retractable claws. covered in short hair/fur with longer
covering around head and shoulders. eyes are large, but not overly so.
seem very strong. bi-pedal. image taken and included (OOC: use your
imagination here). detailed scans unavailable. from limited scans indicate
that they have iron based blood, and a physiology similar to caitians, but
not exactly. detailed scans needed.
Report 6. next day

references are being made to a portal. unable to determine what
that is, or what the end points are. borded cat ship. scans revealed that
their technology is highly advanced, comparable to that of the Federation,
but very sturdy and functional. more of a klingon design approach. not a
comfortable ship. cover may be comprimised.

spider is dead. his cover was blown. punishment was primative and
savage. they hunted him down like a prey animal. very ritualistic. will
become scarce until tensions die down. will return to stargazer and operate
from there for several weeks.
Tech. report

To: Task Force Command
Analysis of stolen components recovered in raid of pirate base
reveals nothing out of the ordinary. Analysis of alien reckage is ongoing.
Nothing conclusive at this time. Theory is that they are used for
alternative propulsion- other than warp.
Tech. report
From: Lt. J'Horka, chief engineer USS Stargazer
To: Task Force Command
Most of analysis complete. Components believed to be new method
of subspace travel. Opens a rift, or portal, that can be used to travel
through. Unstable unless there is a gate mechanism on both sides. requires
large amounts of power to operate. Used Stargazer warp core at full
capacity to open small opening. Testing of alien power generation methods,
from reckage recovered, indicates that they have a more efficient method of
generating power.
