[<There is none,>] she replied.
In the world outside, Kitanya would be able to see Carrhae hand reach the
contact points on Matt's face. She shared her memories of her life,
leaving out only those work-related things that she could not share.
He saw her childhood, an adventure-filled one that seemed to portend her
military career decision. He saw her grandparents, who raised her and her
older sisters after their parents' deaths. Then, her entry into the
military service and recruitment by the Tal Shiar. A wild escape from
Rihannsu space when it was discovered that her grandmother was human.
The years of rejection, then--slowly--grudging respect, for her work in
Star Fleet Intel. The outright rejection of her European forebears and
arm-opening welcome from her Hawaiian extended family. And, finally, the
sense of aloneness as she came to accept as she adjusted to her live in
the Federation.
With some reticence, she let him see her memories of their time together.
She did not know how he would react to the depth of her feelings since
she, herself, did not fully know her own reaction.
She simply accepted it.
