Joe arrived shortly before Spacedock's XO did. He was comfortable reading
something on his PADD...
"Mr. Garibaldi," Dais said as he stepped into the area. "I hope your
information search was a little more successful than mine was."
"Probably not, Commander. However, I know it was more entertaining. I did,
at least, have a nice conversation with a judge that I know, so I can safely
say that we have a material witness order." Joe replied.
"What did you find out?" he continued.
Dais started with a sigh. "I must admit that I did not find out as much as
I thought I would. To start, our friend must have decided to do some sight
seeing along his way here."
That got Joe's attention. "Signtseeing..."
"Well, I am not sure it is of the best sort. While he arrived at Deep Space
9 directly from Bajor as one would expect. He left DS9 and headed for
Viar's Oasis, not one of the most reputable vacations spots in this
Quadrant. He spent some time there before continuing his journey. From
there he went to Alpha Centauri and arrived here shortly thereafter."
"That is interesting. He stopped by two good spots to meet with smugglars,
theives, and where you can do what you want to without fear of heavy law
evforcement coming down on you.... What else did you find?"
"After getting that information, I decided to see what I could find out
about him from the Federation database. Amazingly, the files were sealed,
and you probably have a good idea by whom."
"I bet I can guess it in 3 tries..."
"It would seem that our cover-up theory might have something to it," Dais
said with a nod. "It seems the Bajoran Ambassador is able to make changes
to our database. Anyway, from their I put in a request from Mr. Rivik for a
biographical file on him. Mr. Rivik did follow through with a file 20
minutes later, but I have a fealing that it is not the complete file. It
looks the like G-rated version to me."
With that, Dais handed his PADD with the downloaded file to Garibaldi and
allowed him to look it over.
Joe took a moment or two to review the materials that were on the PADD. It
was all too good to be true. The cover up had started, and they were just
about a step ahead of the bad guys. If they were good, and moved quickly
there was a chance that they could stay a step ahead.
"Looks like it is a good thing we got the material witness order," Joe said
after finishing the reports. "I think we should start off quite polite...
smile and friendly greetings. Once we start easy then we blitz'em. I will
inform him of his rights. Then, you start by asking a few simple questions.
Nothing really deep, just general type questions as if you rae trying to
see to it that he gets off. When you are about to finish up, I hit them
with the harder questions, and finish with the big gun- the witness order.
>From there we leave and watch the comotion and follow it to where it
leads..."
The Trill nodded. "It sounds like a plan to me. Was there anything else
you think we should go over before the meeting?"
