They waited the 5 extra minutes. The decision was a good one, because
they started to discuss plans to make a hit on Starfleet's CinC....
Charles changed the topic from the launch bay to... "I also want to
start thinking about hitting some high up people. People with close ties to
the Venasians. They are traitors. Dealing with those Venasian back
stabbers. The only way to permenantly put a wedge between us so the
Venasians can really get what the deserve is to kill those that support
them."
"What are we talking about here... Assassinations? Who are you thinking
about, Charles?" Edwards asks trying to pull out this last little tid bit.
"Why the main drum beater himself... Admiral Samuel Lasiter. He is one of
their beggest supporters and most public friends. He must go. Pony likes
the idea. In fact he likes the idea so much that he wants us to make up a
plan for it using the Venasian explosives that we have. It would look like
another assassination attempt by the Cardies if anything were to be found
out. The shock waves that it would send through the Federation and the
Venasian government would be huge." Charles was getting excited about the
idea of taking out Lasiter. His voice and body language gave it away...
The reactions from the croonies that were there were shocking. They love
the idea more than Charles, and whomever this Pony being was.
Charles calmed everyone down.. "Easy now... we have to havew a plan.
Using the water folk's explosive to hit ops is the first step. That should
knock enough out to allow us free movement and an undectected escape. We
could beam in and take out Lasiter no matter where he happens to be on the
station."
"What about his security detail?" Edwards asks.
"One of our friends here will get on his detail. That will give us an
insight into his itinerary and security arrangments. Plus some one will be
able to take out a guard or two in the confusion while we beam in."
"Sounds like this has been on your mind for a while, Charles." replied on
of the thugs.
"Yes, it has....."
Audra felt her eyebrows rise. This seemed to be getting more and more
serious. She was going to have to make sure that Lasiter knew about the
danger so that proper precautions could be made. She glanced toward her team
to indicate that she was ready to go when they were.
Grimes gave the go ahead for the teams to move in. All three tactical
teams (made up of 7 people each) moved in with their weapons drawn.
Grimes and Audra follow a few steps behind the tactical team with them...
After cutting off exits/entrances they moved in. The group was surrounded,
and the fun began. A few decided to resist, and they got shot. Stun setting
of course. They dropped like flies... Those that were smart enough *not* to
resist were just pinned to walls while they were frisked and restraints
(cuffs) were put on. Edwards and Charles were both pinned to the ground with
guns to their heads. The teams knew that Edwards was thier informant, but
wanted to keep his involvement secret for as long as possible. He would be
taken to a cell, and released a while later when things died down...
"All of you are under arrest by Federation Marshalls and Starfleet. You
will be detained in a Starfleet brig until areignment. Deputy, read these
folks their rights. We will call for transport once they are fully secured."
Grimes said to all there.
It took a moment for Audra to realize that Grimes was talking to her. It was
probably the first time that she had been referred to by that title. She
looked toward those being arrested. "You have the right to remain silent and
refuse to answer any questions. Anything you say may be used against you in a
court of law. As we discuss this matter, you have a right to stop answering
my questions at any time you desire. You have a right to a lawyer before
speaking to me, to remain silent until you can talk to him/her, and to have
him/her present when you are being questioned. If you want a lawyer but
cannot afford one, one will be provided to you without cost. Do you
understand each of these rights I have explained to you? Now that I have
advised you of your rights, is there anything you would like to share with us
about what is going on? "
Charles yelled to everyone, "No one talk. Wait until the lawyers get there. If any
of you talk, I will kill you..."
He got cut off by a Marshall... "HEY!, you have the right to be silent. Use it."
he said tapping his finger on the man's head with each word.
Grimes with a slight smile ordered Charles and Edwards taken to holding. Hoping
with the leader gone, and their source taken to a safe place, that the others would be
willing to talk here.
As the Feds took Charles, Edwards, and the stunned resistors to the brig the
questioning could start.
At first it looked as if no one would say a thing. But then one guy started to
mumble something.
He got cut off by another who repeated Charles' threat. Grime had the loud mouth
and others taken to the brig. That left a hand full of security folks and a thug with
something to say.
He slowly began to talk.. "We... We... We are trying to effect change...."
Grimes could only look at Firehawk with an amazed expression... 'is he serious' was
what he was trying to convey.
