Looks like is plenty of interest.
Here are a few more details. Please let me know what you interested folks think. I will not be starting this side line until the first or second week of August , as quite a few of you will be on vacation (including me). General Plot/Mission: The Strategic Operations Center will be a multifunctional intelligence/tactical operations clearing house providing both analysis and emergency response unit support. Meaning, they correlate intell from all sources (military and civilian) and carry out the special, small unit, missions accordingly. I am thinking of this as a very mission oriented kind of campaign, whose time line will generally be irrevelant to the happenings to SPD as a whole. There will be cross over, but how much will be determined on an ongoing basis. Style of play: You should all be accostumed to my particilar GM Style. However, I intend on trying something different. Each "mission" will start out with two briefings: 1) general mission/sitation and 2) a character specific- what your character brings to the sitation, usually special knowledge or a past experience of revelance, etc. From there you folks will have a *great* lattitude in the development of the story. Basically the story is all yours, so as long as it makes sense it is ok. Every now and again I will step in to shake things up. Positions: I have done some initial planning with respect to the positions available. By some planning I mean I have thought about it, but nothing is cast in stone quite yet. While I have a few ideas, I welcome yours. So, if I say that I am looking for one thing, and you have a better or just different idea please pass it along. Here is what I have so far... Note: with exception to the Inter-agency affairs officer, all will be field type folk- a Jack Ryan kind of analyst. One who ends up in the field doing as well as analyizing. Keep in mind that orgainzations like the FBI and CIA have tactical units/spooks as well that we can draw from. Note 2: on a side note (to the sideline) I do not like "perfect" characters. Characters without flaws- weaknesses in character or capabilities - are boring. They provide little to nothing to properly challenge the character, and less for the sitation. With this in mind please throw in a drinking problem, family issue, something to make things interesting for me, your fellow players, and for you. CO - titled Director of Strategic Operations. Can be Civie or Starfleet (leaning towards Starfleet). Rank of Captain/Col. or Rear Admiral/Brig. General. Inter-Agency Affairs Officer- This is essentially the office manager of the unit. Orders the paper clips, smooths over the egos of other units/agencies, and deals with the press. ERT Leader- Emergency Response Team Leader - Spec Operations/Special Forces type. Will command specialized field teams. Rank of Lt. Cmdr/Major or Lt./Capt.(marine) ERT members- not really needing many of these because the others in the unit will be part fo the team as well, however some generalists will be needed. Specialities of importance are: pilots, engineers, and medics (afterall I plan on darn near killing you folks on every mission... ;) ) Analysts- any of the following, others will be gladly accepted. Weapons/Ordance Specialist- weapons/explosives/demolition specialist. Any rank even civie. Nuff said. Counter Intelligence- specialist in field intelligence operations and counter intelligence measures. Experienced, seasoned officer. Civie or Fleet. If Fleet, no higher than Lt. Col or Commander.
