[OOC: this goes back to before he left the quarters he was given on
Spacedock and went wandering into the seedy part of the place. *g*]

Steven unpacked his things to the extent that he had enough to work with
before getting his new assignment.

Of course, what he hadn't counted on was what he had found in one of his
suitcases. It was a little silver frame of he and his ex-wife on their
wedding day. Along with a short length of chain with both their wedding
bands on it.

They had looked so damn happy that day. She was a vision in white and
pearl. He wore his best non-Starfleet suit and the pair of them looked as
though they could go on forever.

Well. Forever had been two years. A month after their second wedding
anniversary, he had come home from a day at the office to find that she was
with someone else. Another woman, actually. In their marriage bed.

The divorce which had followed was amicable, but there was still pain
involved. He had requested a leave of absence of six months and explained
the reasons behind it.

Now, he was returning to active duty a month after the final papers had
been signed. The mourning period was over. It was time to get on with his
life. So he had accepted an assignment as cloaked in secrecy as was
possible, and was waiting for further instructions after receiving orders
to go to Spacedock and wait.

"Forget this. Maybe it won't hurt as much later." he muttered under his
breath, tossing the small memento into a box and burying it in the suitcase.

He changed out of the tank top and shorts he'd worn after he'd tried to go
to sleep and failed.

After that, he made sure he had the necessary things with him and left the
room.
