At taht Lasiter frowned. He had no one... Well no one since he and his
wife separated how many years ago.

"Well, my life is filled with Starfleet right now. I have not had time
for much of anything else." to his long time friend this meant he had no one
in his life. Perhaps this explained why he dwelled so much on her personal
life a moment ago. To prod her to do something to take the tension off of
it less she lose it. If Lasiter could not have one, then at least one of
his best friends can...

"I have not spoken nor seen my only son in several days. A pair of weeks
I think. We did not part on good terms when last we spoke." She did not
have to be a telepath to tell that he was unhappy about that.
