{OOC: Not really back, just sneaking in a post...}
Capt. Lasiter and Vice Admiral Kitanya had ended their meeting in favor for
some much needed rest. Kitanya heading for her quarters, while Lasiter headed
for the couch in his ready room. He prefered nto to be too far from the
bridge in situations like this... situations where he had that certain
feeling...
About two hours from drop off of the cargo that certain little feeling proved
to be proper warning.
Lasiter was roused from a deep sleep to come to the bridge. He exited his
ready room with a uniform that looked as if he had been sleeping in it, and a
hair-do that needed attention. As he took the center seat from the watch
officer, and the reports were being given to him, he pulled out a comb from
his pocket and fixed his hair.
"What do you mean you have unidentified contacts on sensors?" Lasiter asked
a bit gruffly, still half asleep.
"Engineering has not finished the repairs to long range sensors yet. They
will get to those next." reported the Ops officer.
"ETI- estimated time to intercept?"
"10 minutes, sir. They are traveling at warp 6."
There was silence on the bridge. One could hear cells divide if one tried
hard enough to listen.
It took a good 4 seconds for Lasiter to break the silence,
"Communications, send to all ships in the convoy via line of sight
communications beam to prepare for combat. No alarms, no changes in power
distribution until we signal. We can not alert the cats that we are getting
ready. Send on open channel to the approaching vessels a greeting, and ask
for identification. Standard procedure.
OPS, flash to all decks, all stations, battle stations.
Security, make preparations for boarding parties. Secure my ship.
Yeoman, coffee please. Not too hot, I may have to chug." he ordered with a
calm tone that prevented any undue tension.
As for the bridge crew, they started reacting before the first order to
communications was complete. They knew the drill. They knew their captain.
Surprise was his favorite weapon, and he would try to use whatever he
could....

Throughout the rest of the ship, message centers flashed the alert message and
the lights flashed red, but no klaxon. The Special Ops crew instantly jumped
into action.....
