"They don't always carry their arms, sir. One day they are farmers, or
merchants, or teachers, or anything else for that matter, and the next they
are toting a phaser rifle or a disruptor taking pot shots at a patrol. Take
into account that no one talks to us. We may arrest a innocent farmer, or we
may take out a rebel soldier. Getting a positive identification is not always
possible. We have to operate like a fisherman- cast a wide net and sort
through the catch afterwards. The bad guys don't exactly wear badges to help
us identify them.
As for sleeping, we have tents set up near where we landed today. We are
eating with First Lt. Jim Morgan. He used to be one of my platoon leaders.
His men are making surprise stew. They make it from their rations, so it will
be one hell of a surprise."
