   The distraction of the Promenade was a welcome one.  Watching the children
going by with their parents in tow, and the young, awkwardly young men try to
hook up with the pretty young ladies gave David some reason to smile.

   After some time, David was in line to get a snack of sorts.  He was about
to step up to the counter to order from one of the quickie food joints, when
an officer, who had just gotten his food, turned around and stepped right into
him.

   "Excuse me." the officer said, not yet looking up, still trying to balance
the wobbly food on his tray.  When he did finally look up and match gazes,
David found himself looking right at Colonel Stark, the CO of the police
action he was just touring...
