[Spacedock and the Federation headquarters are in an uproar,] the Mora'sai (commander) reported, [they were attacked on two fronts.  One was a sniper at the funeral for the son of Samuel Lasiter.  The other was an explosion on Spacedock, although it is not confirmed it was an attack or sabotage.  It could have simply been shoddy Federation engineering.  A few of the officers were killed - reportedly, Commander M'rrenn and possibly the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Matthew Brennan, though that is unconfirmed.]

[Mm.  Not us, then?]  General A'amon didn't turn from watching Jayden D'amondra swimming in the aquatic section of the ship.  Though every Venasian ship utilized buoyancy simulators everywhere within its hull, certain sections of the ship were also in water.  Jayden was using one of the recreational rooms, the Venase VII habitat chamber, which was a transplanted microcosm of the Jondlar Lagoon.  One of the surviving vestiges of a planet long since dead.

[No, General.  We haven't been near Spacedock.]

[Good.  I do not want any more incidences with rogue or overeager representatives of our government.  The two who killed Lasiter's son caused enough trouble which had to be fixed.]

The Mora'sai hesitated before continuing.  [A *cr'thsuli* was bestowed at the funeral service, General.]

[Indeed?]  The General's tone remained neutral but his interest was picqued.  [T'remea D'amondra, perhaps?]

[No, Admiral.  Our agents reported that T'remea D'amondra remains comatose, and it remains unclear whether she will regain consciousness.  We believe it was the... fringe group.  The ones who claim to be a resistance against our government.  Also...]

[Yes?]

[The group is becoming more overt about their activities.  Two of our supply ships carrying super-refined dilithium from Tkuka were taken by stealth.  Apparently, the rebels had members planted within the crew.  The crew members loyal to us were forced into escape pods and set adrift.  We have not found the supply ships yet.  And numerous other signs have begun to surface.]

[I see.  And these... rebels... they have a name? A purpose?]

[They haven't claimed a name yet, General, but they state they work to free the Venasian people from the oppression of a tyrant.]  The Mora'sai trembled slightly when saying this; he was unsure how the General would take it.

A'amon said nothing for a long while.  He watched Jayden swimming lazily among the ocean creatures and plants, unafraid of the T'jura, which could have easily snapped him in two with its swim fin.  [Look at him, Mora'sai,] A'amon said with a faint note of disgust in his voice, [You would almost think he was pure-blooded, rather than a foul half-breed.]

[We could dispose of him, General.  Much of the crew dislikes his presence here.] the Mora'sai suggested tentatively.

[No, I still have use of him, though his sister would have been more useful.]  A'amon turned from the viewing window, the gold flecks in his eyes glittering dangerously.  [Our solution to this so-called resistance will be two-fold, and I am entrusting you to it.  The first is to infiltrate it.  Plant agents, find out who the leader is, and kill him.  And while you are doing that, clamp down on those areas where rebellion is taking place.  Reeducate, if you must. These things are usually poorly organized; they will crumble at the first sign of a response from us.]

The Mora'sai tilted his head slightly.  [Yes, General.  I will keep you updated on my progress.]  With that, he left the room, feeling slightly relieved he hadn't been reeducated himself.
