She thought for a moment.  "I think perhaps it is too short, and I forget that others do not name their children as Russians do.  Our middle names are named after our fathers.  I am Katerina Nikolaevna, as my father's name was Nikolai.  What was your father's name?"

"Ahhhh," said the Aqualish with a nod. "I understand.  My father's name is Shainen.  Would that make my name Caimlyn Shainevna?"

She smiled, a girlish smile, and had to supress a laugh.  "No.  The suffix '-evna' is only for females."  She couldn't stop smiling at that, and strangely, smiling felt good.  "In Russian, your name would be Caimlyn Shainenevich.  A good, strong name.  May I call you that?" she asked., hoping he'd like it.  She thought it sounded nice.

Caimlyn felt his cheeks warm over once again.  This time it was for two reasons: his embarrassing mistake and Katya's reference to his having a strong name.  "I think that would be nice, Katerina Nikolaevna," he replied with a just a bit of stumbling over the words.
