"Typical Starfleet decorative style." He said to noone in particular-he
grunted when he fell roughly into a chair, "So Commander....I am taking over
your position. What am I up against?"
"The galaxy, Mr. Watson. The Council is not large, but it is full of colorful
personalities. The current chair of the Council is Aqualish ambassador T'Kresh. Also
on the Council are representatives from the Romulans, Klingons, Cardassians, and the
Federation. The Venasian representative is, or rather was, Ambassador D'amondra. A
replacement Venasian Representative has not yet been appointed.
The current issues, or rather our first issue, is the joint offer of a homeworld for
the Venasians. The planet that the Federation has found was offered jointly by the
Council. The Venasians have rejected the planet because of a finding of Lapizine,
which is toxic to them. The Starfleet surveys have shone no indication of any harmful
agent, lapizine or otherwise, on the planet. While the Council is suspicious of the
Venasian findings, a new survey was commissioned with scientists from all Council
members. The Federation will not have representatives on the survey, however, the
Commander of the Starfleet contingent on the planet has been directed to cooperate
fully with the new survey team.
I am scheduled to meet with President Montgomery and Admiral Lasiter along with
another member of the Council regarding the sniper attack and explosion on Spacedock.
As the new representative, that task will fall to you."
