Jaime Mathews palmed the pad beside the door to her house and entered when it quietly hissed open.  The lights instantly came on to reveal a simply furnished, but comfortable layout.

Unlike the typical 20-something female, though, there was nothing in her home from some alien world.  Everything was 100-percent human, from right on good old Earth.

She slid out of the thin jacket she wore and hung it in the hall closet.  As she passed a mirror hanging in the living room, she saw the reflection of an Earth woman just over 180 cm tall, with thick, flaming red hair, an oval face with slightly upturned green eyes that hinted at her Eurasian ancestry, and full, red lips.  Hers was not a classic beauty, but she stopped her share of traffic when she bothered to dress up, or even just to smile.

Jamie rarely did either.  The jeans and t-shirt with the "Earth for Humans" were like a uniform on her generous curves.

She entered the kitchen and ordered a double ham and cheese sandwich with pickles and a large orange juice.  The replicator dutifully produced the items, which she carried to a small table and quickly ate.  There was no VID in her home, so she scanned through the padd left on the table earlier that day.

There was a notice for a meeting the next day.  Her twin brother, James, would be leading it, and he wanted her to attend.  More accurately, it was expected that she would attend.

Of course, she would.

Once done, she went to her bedroom.  "Phoebe," she called.

There was no answer.  Unsurprised, she went to the back exit and found, as she expected, her Great Dane sound asleep.  Smiling, she said, "Some guard dog."

She turned from the monstrous beast and made her way to the bedroom.  It did not take long for her to undress, complete her preparations for bed and to settle in for the evening.

*End*
