>"I'm honored by my nomination, Admiral, but I have to be clear: You're catching me at a strange time. As you know I've been conducting quite a bit of research >while the Stargazer is drydocked indefinitely. But my foremost worry right now is the retrieval of my son. Do you want that heading up Starfleet's medical program? >Surely a captain or an admiral would be more qualified, and certainly outranks me."
"Yes I realize your son is your paramount concern and as a parent I share that pain. However would it be a safe assumption that your son would not want you pining for him either?"
Serana smiled faintly. "It's hard to tell sometimes what Jayden wants or doesn't."
"If you will accept the position you'll have Dr. Basco working right alongside with you. You can also bring in any other additional staff you'd like so that you can split some time to devote to your research. On the other hand, I will employ every tool I have to find and bring your son home."
"Thank you, Admiral. I already have some resources out finding him; they tell me he's in relatively safe hands right now, a guest of General A'amon, apparently. I've been trying to figure the best course of action to get Jayden back." She looked off-screen at something Ceran was apparently doing. "I will have to think on this offer, Admiral," she told him seriously, "this isn't exactly a decision I can make with flour in my hair, especially since assignment isn't likely to sit well with several officers who outrank me."
