FROM: CMO Admiral Brennan To: Spacedock CO Admiral Lorin Renaud RE: Request for LOA Thank you for approving my leave of absence. I have considered the possibilities or my replacement, and I would have to say that my two top contenders would be Mary Basco and Serana D'amondra. Both physicians are more than qualified to run the department. Lorin replied saying he accepted the recommendation and Selara would most likely receive the promotion but he would speak to both before the decision was made. He turned to his view screen, "Admiral Renaud to Dr. Basco." "Dr. Basco, here. What may I do for you, Admiral. "Dr. Basco-thank you for your time. As you may or may not know, Dr Brennan has taken a Leave of Absence due to his injuries. You and another individual have been recommended by the Doctor. Would you be interested in the position?" There was a quiet pause on the other end. Mary had heard the Dr. Brennan was possibly taking a leave. She was going to be very sad not to be working with him for the foreseeable future. While she had no doubts that she could serve as a Chief Medical Officer, she was not sure she was ready to head up a department the size of hers. Spacedock had three sets of Sickbay facilities and one of the largest staffs in Starfleet. It would be a wonderful opportunity though.
"Sir, I would be open to whatever choice you make. To say that taking such a position, even over the short term, would be an honor woudl be an understatement. I am just not sure that I am ready for heading a facility this size.
