Station Kerry
Io

Lt. Janice Donovan sat at her station and looked over the readouts once again. She
still could not believe what she was seeing. She had been stationed on Io for almost
five years, and the sensor readings for the local planetary system had never indicated
anything like this before.

She turned around and looked over her shoulder to the other scientist on duty. Gabe,
can you come over here for a moment?

LtCdr. Gabriel Ares glanced up from his console. He was making a cellular analysis of
a single-celled life form that had recently been found in the caldera of some of Ios
volcanoes. It was a xenobiologists dream. It was a cream project that he had
fortunately been assigned to. What is it, Jan? he asked of the stations
meteorologist as he made his way over to her workstation.

Jan didnt quite know how to respond. She just indicated her screen.

A live image of the dark spot of Jupiter was showing on Donovans monitor. As Gabe
looked over he monitor he was hit with a bit of eeriness as he realized that the spot
had the appearance of an eye. Its usually orangey-brown appear had taken on the shape
of an iris, and the center was a darker, blackish spot that looked like what would be
the pupil of the eye.

Merde! When did that start?

It just appeared while I was working. I needed another pair of eyes to make sure it
wasnt just me.

Gabe shook his head, as he started to use her console to access the stations sensors.
What was even more shocking was that the spot was scanning as if it were an eye.

To be continued.
