Being the CO, he could look into certain classified personnel records if there was a concern and he felt the lunch scene with David merited it.
He saw in the Medical History that David had been assigned to Commander Kirk for treatment-she was a psychologist/counselor if he was correct.
"Admiral Renaud to Commander Kirk."
"This is Commander Kirk. What can I do for you, Admiral?"
"Securing the connection please confirm." He secured it on his end for privacy.
"Security confirmed, sir," was the response a moment later. It was clear that the commander was not used to such calls since her position rarely brought her in touch with questions of security.
"Commander, I am aware you are treating Captain David Boulay. Truth is he is my nephew and he just had an incident that you should be aware of."
There was a pause on the line just long enough for the counselor to grab a PADD to take notes. "Why don't you describe what happened to me, sir?"
"We were eating lunch in the Promenade. Someone dropped a metal tray and he jumped a mile high. He got extremely agitated, said he `couldn't handle this anymore' and left."
"Do you know where he was going, Admiral?"
"Unknown Commander. Hold on..."
"Computer location of Captain David Boulay."
[CAPTAIN BOULAY IS IN HOLODECK 3]
"Holodeck 3 Commander...I'll let you handle it from here. Call me immediately if I'm needed. Renaud out."
Joanna quickly picked up a programmable hypospray and a medical tricorder before leaving her office and headed for Holodeck 3.
