As t'Llhweiir read this, waiting for K'Tael to arrive, she sent a note in reply:
Was there an biological residue (DNA, etc.)? Any indication of how long ago
the disassembly might have occurred? What components are missing and how might
they be used?

A response was received later that said that there was not any biological matter on
the communicator that was usable. As to when it was taken apart, that could not be
determined exactly, but was estimated that it was disassembled no sooner than 5 months
ago. Missing components included the power supply and the transceiver. The parts that
were removed could possible be used to make a higher powered transceiver (by combining
several power supplies and antennea from other communicators), or possibly a weapon to
stun a guard in the hopes of making an escape attempt.

She then contacted the Intell officer in charge of investigating the
disappearances.

Background-- When the ships that disappeared were reported as overdue, Starfleet began
a search. After several weeks of searching, the official search was called off. This
left the ships listed as MIA-overdue. Missing personnel were treated the same way.
Once an officer was reported missing Security began an investigation. After several
months, as the case became cold, the individuals were listed as MIA. In either case,
the files were left open, hoping for a fresh lead to shed some light on things.

{OOC: the player that is currently taking charge of the investigation is Commander
Steven Liridian, who has just been assigned to the task. CDR. Liridian is from
Special Operations.  -CS}
