Joanna nodded. "I am fine," she responded. She was impressed with the way that he had rushed to her protection. It was very gallant. She couldn't help but smile. "Somehow kids stay the same no matter where they are living."

David nodded, "You've got a cute smile...for a shrink." He smiled.

Joanna felt her cheeks warm again. David was quite good at being complimentary. And she had to admit to herself that she was starting to like it. She went on with the conversation.

"I grew up on starships. My parents were both career fleeters. My mother was a Chief Medical Officer and my father was in security."

"I really don't know much about my parents. Admiral Renaud is my Uncle-he and Admiral Bedru raised me primarily."

"So you grew up with the fleet, too. Did you live near earth or where they stationed elsewhere?" she asked remembering the loneliness that being a military brat could include.
