The shuttle was larger than one would have expected. It was big enough to hold at least a hundred people, but since Spacedock was a major transport terminal, many interstellar transports departed from their rather than from the surface of Earth in order to save the fuel needed to escape the planet's surface gravity.
Jaime made it to the shuttle's entrance in time and was able to check in. Contrary to her concerns, the shuttle's staff and crew took no extra notice of her than they did the rest of those boarding. Of course, the screaming child with the family waiting to board in front of her probably helped a little bit.
Once aboard, a flight attended led the girl to her seat and offered the usual offer of assistance if anything was needed on the flight. A few moments later, the shuttle lifted off and quickly made its way to the station in orbit around the planet.
Jaime was glad that her seat was far away from the family and their bawling baby. Even in a large shuttle, that would have gotten old very fast. Her eyes were glued to the window, but it was with fascination. One wouild think it was more with fear.
For someone who had never been off-planet the station was amazing. It was huge, encompassing almost 400 decks and space to internally dock a number of Sovereign-class starships with little to know effort. The shuttle made its way to a docking area and made its connection with the station.
Those on board the shuttle were able to disembark and continue their journeys wherever they might take them.
Her body language screamed "Thank you!!" for its return to even an illusion of some place solid. At least she could no longer see space.
She stood alone to try to get her bearings. Finally, she looked around toi see if any of member of the Brotherhood was there to meet her. Surely, Richard would have left her completely on her own.
