"What field of service did you come up through before finding your way into command?"

"I opted for the diversified track, sir," he told him.  "Mostly flight operations, but I rotated through security, engineering and systems ops as well."

"And yourself, sir? If you don't mind my asking.  Where do your people hail from, and how did you come up through the service?"
