Lorin finished the Io briefing and just sat for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
Then he hit his commbadge, "Renaud to Shevab. Please meet me at Admiral Lasiter's office. Renaud out."
He didn't leave the line open for a response but went direct to Lasiter's office and reported to his gatekeeper, "Admiral Renaud reporting at Admiral Lasiter's request. Commander Shevab will be coming shortly."
Jane, the long time receptionist in the CinC's office, looked up at Lorin's entry. She simply folded her hands and waited for the Admiral to approach.
"Yes, Admiral. One moment, while I let him know that you have arrived.", she answered politely.
Uncharacteristically, she got up from her desk, after locking the terminal, and passed through the large doors that led into the inner office of Admiral Samuel Lasiter. She was gone for a good minute or so, when the doors parted once more. Jane had returned.
Standing in the open doorway, she said, "The CinC will see you now, Admiral. Good luck."
