>"Very well then. Dismissed."

"Sir I believe you said we could discuss another issue..."

 >"Yes. Commander I look forward to your next report. Dismissed."

 >After Shevab exits... "Admiral, where do you see the problem between you
and the Commander?"

"I wish I knew sir...I can't figure him out. He seems to have a chip on his
shoulder, so to say, when it comes to Command and Authority figures. I
explained in the Io briefing he could not leave as per our orders and this
meeting. He took it as an insult."

Lasiter thought for a good minute before answering. "Well, Admiral, many of the best
that Starfleet has ever produced were rebels in their own right, and in some cases
down disrespectful of the chain of command. That does not excuse it, but it may
explain it a bit. To be honest he is very good at what he does, even is he is
difficult to deal with. My recommendation is to get to know him a bit, but I suspect
that he will not be the join you for dinner type. Give him parameters and give him
latitude, and I really do think that you will find that he will be a great asset, if
not the biggest pain you have ever met.

His past assignments were not so close to brass or diplomats, rather results
oriented officers. I doubt they cared about his military discipline or how he
polished up for inspection. His abilities and the very results that he was able to
deliver made him valuable. Try to reset his views on things. Here it is not only
that you get results, but that you look the part. Being stationed at HQ is
different than being stationed at a ship yard far from earth."
