When Ambassador James Watson and Admiral Candace Bedru returned to their respective offices, something awaited them. A report from Rames, the home of the Ramesar. Each got a different report from the team of observers that remained on the planet.
To: Ambassador J. Watson, Earth From: Ambassador J Walcott, Rames Re: Ramesarian Developments I am pleased to report that the transfer of power from the people that we now know as the Usurpers to the Ramesar has been complete. Not completely without strife, but it did go forward without violence. The Usurpers seem to be adjusting well, and the Ramesar appear to be governing fairly. Since the Ramesar have returned, just a few short weeks ago, this observation is little more than a first impression. However, I am hopeful that things will continue to go smoothly. There was an interesting development to report. The Ramesar have shown a large interest in the other races and peoples of our galaxy. We have shared terrabytes of data with them, and they are even more curious. They have recently indicated a fair measure of interest in sending a representative to the Diplomatic Council that has convened on Spacedock. I have told them that I would look into it. I have to admit that I am both pleased and puzzled at their motives. They keep things close to the vest, as the saying goes. I don't think they are being deceptive, just not totally open. Please advise. Jordan Walcott. ********* To: Admiral Bedru, Director of Galactic Exploration From: Captain B. Daniels, CO USS Blue Ridge Re: Ramesar Diplomacy I am happy to report that the political take over on the planet Rames has gone without violence, but not peaceably. There have been some ruffled feathers over some of the decisions that the new government have made, but nothing that a good old fashioned sit down couldn't resolve. We have been checking out their military, and to be honest I am quite impressed. They are quite advanced in almost every way, from propulsion to offensive weapons (energy weapons akin to phasers and torpedos) to defensive weapons (shields). I wouldn't want to get into a slug match with this people. Not with five (5) of our best starships to one (1) of theirs. However, this not the matter that I wish to report on. Our hosts, have just recently approached Ambassador Walcott, the UFP rep here, about the possibility of them sending a formal representative to participate in the Diplomatic Council that is based on Spacedock. I wanted to run this up the chain of command, just in case it rank any warning bells. Please advise. USS Blue Ridge, Captain Bryan Daniels commanding, out.
