As Rilg enterred the office, he found it quite hot and dry.  He was
definitely not used to the climate.  It was also quite a bit darker as it  reflected
the Cardassian comforts.

Melora Damesh was seated at her desk and indicated for him to take one of
the chairs facing it.  "Please come in, Grand Proxy.  I have been looking
forwarded to sitting down to talk to you."  There was a devlish  look that
indicated that she was looking forward to this.

An icy sweat broke out at the base of Rilg's back.  There was just something about this woman that screamed evil.  It was clear that she was not afraid to use that aspect of her personality.  He glanced at the seat and imagined it as some sort of torture device.  Even though he really did not want to, he sat in it.  "Thank you, Ambassador Damesh.  I hope that I can be of whatever assistance you find you need."

"I think that you have already provided more assistance than was necessary," Melora responded icily.  It was a theme supported by the look of contempt issuing from her face.  This was definitley not going to be a friendly visit.

"I am not sure I understand what you mean--"

Rilg was cut off by a disgusted laugh.  "Let us cut to the chase, Grand Proxy.  You are in with the big guns now, rather than your backwater, swamplike homeworld.  We care about more than just profit.  I want to know where you got the intelligence about Mr. Dulath and why you brought it before the Council."

Rilg studied the woman.  He felt his body shaking as she hammered into him.  He took a deep breath before responding.  "As I said in the Council chamber, the information was pulled together by merchants on Cardassia--"

Melora slammed her hand down on her desk.  "I told you before that I did not have you here to play games.  You know as well as I that your merchants only pass on information that has a chance of bringing them profit.  What sort of value would information about a Cardassian diplomat bring to a lowly merchant?  For that matter, what profit does your assistance for him in the Council bring to your people, Mr. Grand Proxy?"

Rilg felt a wave of anger wash over him.  It was this anger that helped him overcome his nervousness and fear.  It was also this anger that lead the Grand Nagesse to select him to represent his people here on Spacedock.  "Apparently, you have missed the past few years of history, Madam Ambassador.  While your world was crumbling after the Dominion War, the Ferengi enterred a new age in which we value more than just profit.  While I will admit that we have not come as far as some of the other races, we are not the snivelling people we once were."

The woman facing him just stared at him.  She did not show any surprise, fear, or any other emotion at his outburst.  "That does not answer my questions, Rilg."  Melora knew that she did not have to repeat those questions.  "Perhaps it would be easier for your limited intellect to answer them one at a time.  Let's start with the easier question.  Why did you bring the information before the Council?  It was not requested by anyone at the session."

Now it was the Ferengi's turn to laugh.  "That is definitley an easy one.  I did it because it is the right thing to do.  It is not right for your government to treat people as second-class citizens as second class people.  It may have taken the Ferengi a long time to learn that lesson, but as I am sure you have noticed, there are quite a few more Ferengi females aboard this station.  They are allowed to leave Ferenginar, and they are allowed to wear clothes.

This time Melora did not respond.

"You cannot jail your people because you disagree with their opinions.  It is my understanding that Golan Dulath wasn't even challenging the leadership of Central Command.  He was just working toward peace."

Melora responded, but she clearly did not feel the need to provide her guest with answers.  This was not a conversation, but a briefing.  "And where did you get the information about Golan Dulath?"

Rilg stood up.  It didn't have quite the effect that he had wanted since even standing at full height, he was looking directly into her eyes as she was seated, but it did make a statement.  "Ambassador, I have provided you with an answer to that question.  It is not my fault if you are not happy with that answer.  If there is nothing further you wish to discuss at this meeting, than I believe it is time for me to leave."

Melora could not believe the gall of this worm.  How dare he speak to her as if they were equals.  She did control her anger enough so it did not show on her face.  She was a diplomat.  She pulled her hands together on her desk and leaned back.  The one thing that was good about his reaction was that he had ceded her enough power in the conversation to allow her to end it.  She was not sure whether he realized that or not.  "Then I do believe that this conversation is at an end.  You may go."

Rilg clenched his fists in anger at being dismissed as if he were an underling, but like his fellow Council member, he let the facade of diplomacy control his actions.  He bowed and left without responding.  Apparently, he was going to have to have another meeting before returning to his office.

He went down the hallway to the Rihannsu Embassy and enterred.  He made his way over to the desk in the reseption area.  "I need to speak with Ambassador t'Khllrez.  I am Grand Proxy Rilg.  Tell her it is an emergency that relates to our earlier meeting."

(OOC:  That would be the meeting in which Ael gave Rilg the information about Golan Dulath.)
