"Occupied elsewhere," she replied with a raised eyebrow.  She extended her open
hand to receive the identification.  "Thank you for your concern.  You may
return to your other duties."

Her tone of voice left no doubt that this was not a suggestion.

The other two officers with the major took a short step back.  However the marine was 
not moved by her answer or by her tone.  Afterall, he was a Marine.

"What has occupied them, Ma'am?  I have to admit that it is unusual for a personal 
security detail to be occupied wtih anything except the well being of their charge.", 
he said holding on to her id for a moment longer, before handing it over.  He was not 
impolite, but his insistance was just bordering on insubordination.
