"That's what I'm hoping."
Serana watched as Ceran programmed the holodeck for Frungy, Level One.
Within a few minutes, she and Celine were watching the kids play Frungy,
which seemed to involve a great number of flying pillows, goo guns, and
singing songs at the top of their lungs. Periodically the game would
change, and a whole new set of variables would enter, which ranged from
herds of ducks, antigrav racers, colored smoke, and the entire Vulcan
planetary softball team. Serana shook her head, giving up any effort
of making any sense of it, even though it seemed to make perfect sense to
Celine's kids. "Well, anyway, what about your kids? How did they
enjoy life aboard a starship?"
Celine was also joining the doctor in watching the children. She
smiled and wondered if there really were any rules to the game or if it was just
a free-for-all. "It has been all they have known so they do not seem to
mind, but I do think they missed out on a chance to enjoy the real
outdoors. The holodecks help, but it is not the same ... at least for
someone like myself who grew up planetside. They have had an opportunity
to meet so many different people, though, so that probably makes up for the
difference."
