With the wedding having just moved indoors, Lasiter takes the opportunity to
give Carrhae his gift to her.
"Might I borrow the bride a moment?", he asked the groom and those stand
immediately by them.

"I promise I will have her back in the shortest of moments.", he said leading
her a few steps away.
Once a few paces away, he removed the pin from his suit jacket. The pin may
have been something that she would have remembered from a picture of the CinC's
late wife that he kept in his quarters, where few officers were ever invited.
"Carrhae, I want you to have this. I bought it for my wife in better times as
a symbol of the love and life that we shared. Such a beautiful pin should be
worn by a beautiful woman, not locked up in some box on an old man's dresser."
The pin was in the shape of a heart, made of braded gold. Inside the heart
were three stones, sapphires of the deepest of blues- the favorite color of
both Samuel and his late wife. What was the most precious part of the give was
the sentiment, as she knew how much he had loved his wife and how much he
missed her. While they had been estranged for many years when she died, the
loss still effected him. This was a sentimental gift to be sure.
