Dinner was now passed, and the guests had all enjoyed the food, and no small amount of the spirits.  In fact, it appeard that Matt had been amongst the most temperate at the gathering.  This was partly because of the talk he knew would soon be coming with Samuel and his desire - his need - to be completely in charge of his faculties, and the fact that this being a wedding night, his bride was certain to have, well, certain expectations of him.

He needed to be certain he could live up to those.

With the group breaking up into smaller groups, Matt took the opportunity to glace Samuel's way.  He then inclined his head toward the house.  Kalina had already been warned to expect this, and to try and ensure that the two men had all due privacy.  Even Matt's guards had been clued in that Matt and SAmuel would be discussing some state matters, and that privacy was necessary.

A few moments later, Matt found himself in one of the more private studies.  There on the table was the bottle of cognac and the box of cigars.  And, of course, the air purifier so that they could enjoy those cigars without any kind of guilt.

Matt took a seat on the sofa and poured two snifters of the cognac.  He then opened the humidor and chose a cigar for himself and set about snipping the ends with the cigar cutter while he waited for Samuel to step in, and the door to click shut and locked behind him.

(eh?)
