Seeing that Matt and Samuel had disappeared into her private study with
the very obvious intent of having privacy, she turned to her other guests and
said, "The beach at this time of the evening is a pleasant place to walk.  Once I change, would any of you wish to join me?"

Ael paused, her champagne flute halfway to her lips.  The evening had been a strange one for her.  She considered Matthew - her former brother in law - to be a close friend, so of course she had attended for his benefit, and to support him.  She had wanted to feel jealous, though, for her Sister's sake.  But her sister was no longer of this realm, and jealousy was a petty emotion.  She liked to think herself above petty emotions.

But before she could make herself reply, the bridge was gone.  That gave Ael a few more minutes to contemplate the offer.

Carrhae nodded and turned over the care of their guest to Kalina while
she went upstairs.

Kalina made certain that all took their leisure as they wished.  There was a
library and a game room with a variety of entertainment.  And, of course, the
garden downstairs.

Within ten minutes, Carrhae returned.  She still wore her hair unbound,
but she was now dressed in jeans and a white silk blouse with sandals on her feet.

"If you are ready, let us be off," she said to whomever was going along.
Another hesitation, but then Ael bent to undo her shoes.  She placed them out of the way, and decided her skirt was certainly short enough to avoid the surf.  "I'm ready," she said, her eyes catching Carrhae.  She wondered if anyone else would join them.
