"I can only imagine that he's going to come at me with all barrels firing. How far will his accusations be allowed to go? He's got a real power complex and I even think-with all due respect Admiral-" to Jackson-"that you will have your hands full." David was clearly almost scare of what will happen with VanDerLoo.

Admiral Jackson had been listening to the conversation, but had been working on the lift off until that moment. Upon clearing the station, the Runabout jumped to Warp and would be on autopilot for some time. He turned his chair and decided he should jump into the conversation. "David, I have no intention of letting him take over this investigation or the line of questioning. We are here to look into what happened and the causes. That means keeping an open mind and listening to people's answers, but it does not mean that we overlook the facts to allow someone to rant."

David's eyes cleared a bit--he had gone into a terrified rant, "I'm sorry...to both of you." He looked down, "This, to be blunt, just scares the hell out of me." It was clear that this trip was going to be extremely difficult for him.

Joanna reached across and placed a hand on David's hand. "There is no reason to apologize, David. You have had a bad experience, and a lot of that occurred directly because of Admiral Van Der Loo. You are going to feel anxiety. Just remember that Admiral Jackson and myself are here for support as well as to make sure we all get to the root of what happened."
