t'Llhweiir nodded. "You have already had a preliminary interview with Admiral
Lasiter, it seems," she said drily. "I will see if he wants to meet with you
more formally before he leaves this afternoon."
Obviously taken back by the comment, "I'm sorry, Admiral. I didn't mean to."
The admiral's mouth turned upward in a half-smile. "I believe,
Captain, that is
exactly the point."
She contacted Lasiter's office assistant. "I have Captain Soran Reid in my
office. Ask Admiral Lasiter if he wishes to meet the captain today or
upon his
return."
"Stand by, Admiral. I'll check with him.", answered his scheduling
assistant.
A moment later, the call came back. "Admiral Lasiter said that if
you think he is qualified and will fit with his command style, then
he'll see him. But he boards the USS Hartford in two hours."
t'Llhweiir met Reid's eyes and replied without hesitation. "What time are you
scheduled to meet the review committee, Captain?"
