"Admiral Renaud. This is Assistant Ambassador Marv Levy, Ambassador Watson is off-base but on his way back. How can I be of assistance?"
"Mr. Levy. What is your knowledge of the Letrosians?"
Levy looked surprised, "No contact with or from them in approximately 20 years sir. They walled themselves off."
"Well we have a Letrosian female in a Cryo-stasis chamber from a rescue mission and need to return her to her people."
Levy said, "I'll look into this and notify Ambassador Watson upon his return."
"Excellent. Please deal with Dr. D'amondara directly on this matter."
"Yes sir." Then Renaud cut the connection.
Levy began to dig for ways to contact the Letrosians...
Levy's research did not take long. He had found a number of reports filed away that indicated that while the Letrosians had closed their borders to outsiders, no one had actually tried to see what would happen if someone tried to contact them. Things had not worked out well with First Contact. The Federation had opted to respect the wishes of the Letrosians under the assumption that they could be contacted once they started leaving their system.
The only Letrosian to leave the system since that mission was the Lady Karina. She had joined the crew of the James Cook for a short time as an escort to the region that the Federation was just starting to explore.
