expected, lunch had turned out to be pleasurable. In fact, she had not
planned on doing dessert, but she had not wanted to pass along a chance
to spend more time with him.
She picked up her fork and took another bite of her strawberry shortcake.
"Do you have a lot of work to get done this afternoon?"
"My good woman, I have a lot of work to get done every day, all day. But
none of it will keep me from our date this evening.", he said smiling at her.
Audra felt herself blush once again. "I am definitely looking forward to
it, myself. What time did you want to get together?"
"How about 1830 hours?"
Audra smiled. "Works for me," she said, knowing full well that she would be
off shift and able to be ready in time. "Did you want to take a shuttle or
the transporter?"
"Let's take the transporter. That way we won't need a designated pilot. We
are going to the Big Easy, right?.."
"Sounds, great. I will be ready then."
He finished off his coffee before saying, "Then it's all set. I'll meet you
at transporter room 4 at 1830. I can hardly wait."
Audra smiled and nodded. "I will be there. Don't work too hard," she
added. "I don't want you too tired to have a good time tonight."
"No worries. Just as long as you don't have a problem going out with an older
man."
"Well, we could head out a little later if you thought you needed a nap to
make it through the evning," Audra replied with a devilish grin.
"We'll see, pretty lady. We'll see.", Joe answered with a devilish grin.
"Don't be late.", he continued with a wink as he stood to leave.
Audra took the last bite of her dessert and dropped her napkin on her plate after wiping her lips with it. "I wouldn't dream of it."
With that, she she stood up and made her way back to work.
