turned toward the door when it had hissed open. A moment later. she
lifted her face away from the microscope she was working with and
zeroed her pale blue eyes on Gabe. The lighting of the room was a bit
darker than was the norm for most Starfleet installations, but that was
probably due to her sensitivity to light. "Lieutenant, I hope I did
not bother you too late."
"Not at all. None of us can sleep when science calls," he replied with
a friendly smile. "What have you got?"
"I was doing some research on the computers and came across some
information about the Letrosians that no one had mentioned earlier.
You might already know this or not, but I think the Letrosians are
native to Earth." Arless' antennae slid all the way back, which made
her suprise quite evident.
Arless was not the only one surprised by her findings. "What gives you
that impression?" he asked making his way closer to her workstation.
Arless brought up some DNA samples that had been collected from the Letrosians by earlier contacts with them. She zoomed in and it was clear that the base pairs that were common to all the species of Earth were evident. They had definitely evolved differently than most of the other species of Terra, but that would have a lot to do with the influences of their transplant environment. She turned to see his reaction.
