I have a question about a manually compiled and packaged checkout of spacewalk. I am running spacewalk from a git checkout from last week. I've been able create channels for x86_64 and i386 and have successfully introduced a RHEL5 x86_64 client machine and fully updated that system.
While running "yum -y update" on the client machine, the time downloading packages was very slow compared to my other experiences with Red Hat Satellite installations which ran on very modest hardware. I noticed that apache on my spacewalk server was consuming a lot of memory and the error log was full of messages like the following: [EMAIL PROTECTED] httpd]# tail -5 error_log [Mon Sep 8 11:30:53 2008] (3845) Apache2::SizeLimit httpd process too big, exiting at SIZE=533152 KB SHARE=13484 KB REQUESTS=2 LIFETIME=0 seconds [Mon Sep 8 11:31:05 2008] (3849) Apache2::SizeLimit httpd process too big, exiting at SIZE=533152 KB SHARE=13484 KB REQUESTS=2 LIFETIME=0 seconds [Mon Sep 8 11:31:08 2008] (3850) Apache2::SizeLimit httpd process too big, exiting at SIZE=533152 KB SHARE=13484 KB REQUESTS=2 LIFETIME=0 seconds [Mon Sep 8 11:31:10 2008] (3856) Apache2::SizeLimit httpd process too big, exiting at SIZE=534356 KB SHARE=13536 KB REQUESTS=2 LIFETIME=0 seconds [Mon Sep 8 11:31:10 2008] (3855) Apache2::SizeLimit httpd process too big, exiting at SIZE=533020 KB SHARE=13468 KB REQUESTS=2 LIFETIME=0 seconds Is this a known issue? The server is RHEL5 x86_64 with latest patches. Java is OpenJDK 1.6.0_0-b11 64bit. Oracle is provided by oracle-xe. The spacewalk packages are installed: spacewalk-0.2-3.git.9fe39707578fc2d12c66eb575d75436e26d59262 spacewalk-admin-0.2.1-1 spacewalk-backend-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-app-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-applet-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-config-files-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-config-files-common-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-config-files-tool-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-package-push-server-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-satellite-tools-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-server-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-sql-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-upload-server-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-xml-export-libs-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-xmlrpc-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-backend-xp-0.2.4-1 spacewalk-base-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-base-minimal-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-branding-0.1.5-1 spacewalk-certs-tools-0.2.2-1 spacewalk-config-0.2.1-1 spacewalk-cypress-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-dobby-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-grail-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-html-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-java-0.2.6-1.git.79f90f1339bddc0be58b9868cfb5464e726d22d1 spacewalk-java-config-0.2.6-1.git.79f90f1339bddc0be58b9868cfb5464e726d22d1 spacewalk-java-lib-0.2.6-1.git.79f90f1339bddc0be58b9868cfb5464e726d22d1 spacewalk-moon-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-pxt-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-schema-0.2.2-1 spacewalk-sniglets-0.2.3-1 spacewalk-taskomatic-0.2.6-1.git.79f90f1339bddc0be58b9868cfb5464e726d22d1 Thanks, Ward
