Ok, here's another clue that I hadn't seen before: I'd forgotten the
/var/log/rhn directory. In the rhn_taskomatic_log, I found an error:

com.redhat.rhn.manager.kickstart.cobbler.CobblerLoginCommand - XmlRpcFault
while logging in. most likely user doesn't have permissions.

And this looks like it's further up the food chain than the $pxt->user
uninitialized. Anyone with a clue as to how I fix this? I *suspect* that
solving this will solve my problem.
