I *just* got it all put together within the past week, so I haven’t automated
anything yet. The working theory is that I can schedule mrepo pulls of all the
repositories I need, then just have another cron job to push everything up
there nightly. Mrepo even sends e-mails of any new packages it pulls down.

The downside to this approach is that I need double the disk space – one place
to hold the packages I pull down from mrepo, and then the filesystem that
contains /var/satellite. So far, it’s not an issue, but I could see it getting
there.

Greg,

Does that work well? Is it easy to automate/script the mrepo ->rhnpush process?
Are you administering RHEL boxes with Spacewalk then?

TIA,
-Eric

I am using mrepo to download the packages, then push them into spacewalk
separately. I don’t believe there is any all-in-one solution to sync spacewalk
from rhn, short of buying a satellite entitlement. I use mrepo to pull
packages down, then rhnpush to get them into spacewalk.

Marcus,

Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that I have mrepo working, but I was
just wondering
if the combination of mrepo and spacewalk would give me the basic functionality
of downloading packages from RHN and pushing them to RHEL boxes.

TIA,

-Eric

You will find some examples on the mrepo page. Brandon has also
written a good tutorial, which can be found here:
